Lange Elementary School

Dear Bobcat Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating summer break. I was fortunate to spend my time away enjoying special moments with family and friends. While summer provides a wonderful break, I am filled with excitement and gratitude to be starting another school year as Principal of the Dorothea Lange Community.

As you prepare for the first day of school, please note the following:

• Office Hours: The office is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please note that the office will be closed briefly for staff events on the following dates and times:
  • Monday, August 11, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm
  • Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
• Class Assignments: Final classroom assignments will be finalized and available on Homelink at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
• New Start Time: School will start at 9:09 am Tuesday to Friday and 10:09 am on Mondays. Campus will continue to open at 8:55 am Tuesday to Friday and 9:55 am on Mondays. 
• Meeting the Teacher: Our youngest Bobcats (TK and Kindergarten) are invited to meet their teachers on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 13, 2025. More details will be sent out to those families soon.
• First Day of School: The first day of school is Thursday, August 14, 2025. Campus opens at 8:55 am, the first bell rings at 9:05 am, and school begins at 9:09 am (new start time this year; 10:09 am on Mondays). We are happy to welcome families on campus for the first day. If you enter campus with your student, please stay by the picnic tables outside the Multipurpose Room and in hallways; say your goodbyes to students before they head to the classrooms. The playground will not be open before school. Please remember that teachers are focused on the students in the mornings, especially on the first day, and may not be able to engage in discussions at that time. If you have any questions or would like to share anything about your student, please message them on ParentSquare. 
  • Coffee and Kleenex: The PTO will be providing coffee and Kleenex in the MPR. All family members are welcome to join in there to connect and celebrate the beginning of a new year. We ask that if you are still on campus when the bell rings at 9:09 am to either join us in there or exit through the gates or front office. 

We also have a couple of new staff members joining our Lange Community this year:

• Andrea Conaway is joining our Resource Team.
• Bari Fox is our new Assistant Principal on Wednesdays.
• Evangeline Lopez is joining as a PE Instructional Assistant.

Whether they are new or returning, our entire staff is dedicated to providing an exceptional learning experience for our students. We are committed to working with you and our students to foster an exceptional learning environment that inspires and prepares every learner. Our mission remains "ensuring an engaging and student-centered education that will inspire and prepare all learners in a safe environment".

As we approach the new school year, it's natural for all of us—adults and children alike—to experience a range of emotions about the transition from summer break to a school routine. To help your student prepare for a smooth return, we recommend gradually re-establishing a consistent bedtime and morning routine over the next few days. Discussing their excitement for the upcoming year and a positive mindset from us as adults can significantly help shape your child's perspective and enthusiasm for the year ahead.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2025-2026! Espero que hayan tenido unas vacaciones de verano relajantes y revitalizantes. Tuve la suerte de pasar mi tiempo libre disfrutando de momentos especiales con mi familia y amigos. Si bien el verano ofrece un descanso maravilloso, me llena de emoción y gratitud comenzar otro año escolar como directora de la Comunidad Dorothea Lange.

Mientras se prepara para el primer día de clases, tenga en cuenta lo siguiente:

• Horario de oficina:  La oficina está abierta de 8:00 a. m. a 4:00 p. m. Tenga en cuenta que la oficina permanecerá cerrada brevemente por eventos del personal en las siguientes fechas y horarios:
  • Lunes 11 de agosto 2025 de 12:00 pm a 1:30 pm
  • Martes 12 de agosto 2025, de 10:30am a  1:30 pm
• Asignación de maestros para estudiantes: Las asignaciones finales de maestros se finalizarán y estarán disponibles en Homelink el miércoles 13 de agosto  2025 a las 4:00 p. m.
• Nueva horario de inicio: Las clases comenzarán a las 9:09 a. m.  martes a viernes (lunes 10:09 a.m)  El campus abrirá a las 8:55 a. m. de martes a viernes (lunes 9:55 a.m)
• Conociendo al profesor:Nuestros Bobcats más jóvenes (TK y Kindergarten) están invitados a reunirse con sus maestros en la tarde del miércoles 13 de agosto 2025. Pronto se enviarán más detalles a esas familias.
• Primer día de clases:  El primer día de clases es el jueves 14 de agosto 2025. El campus abre a las 8:55 a. m., el primer timbre suena a las 9:05 a. m. y las clases comienzan a las 9:09 a. m. (nueva hora de inicio este año: 10:09 a. m. los lunes). Nos complace dar la bienvenida a las familias al campus el primer día. Si entra al campus con su estudiante, por favor, quédense junto a las mesas de picnic afuera de la cafetería y en los pasillos; despídase de los estudiantes antes de que se dirijan a los salones.  El patio de recreo no estará abierto antes del comienzo de clases. Recuerde que los maestros están enfocados en los estudiantes por las mañanas, especialmente el primer día, y es posible que no puedan participar en conversaciones en ese momento. Si tiene alguna pregunta o desea compartir algo sobre su estudiante, por favor, envíele un mensaje a Parent Square.
  • Café y Kleenex: La Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTO) ofrecerá café y pañuelos en la cafetería. Invitamos a todos los familiares a unirse para conectar y celebrar el comienzo de un nuevo año. Si aún se encuentran en el campus cuando suene el timbre a las 9:09 a. m., les pedimos que nos acompañen a entrar o salgan por las puertas o la oficina principal.

También tenemos un par de nuevos miembros del personal que se unen a nuestra Comunidad Lange este año:

• Evangeline López se incorpora como asistente de instrucción de Educación Física.

Ya sean nuevos o antiguos alumnos, todo nuestro personal se dedica a brindar una experiencia de aprendizaje excepcional. Nos comprometemos a trabajar con usted y nuestros estudiantes para fomentar un entorno de aprendizaje excepcional que inspire y prepare a cada alumno. Nuestra misión sigue siendo "garantizar una educación atractiva y centrada en el estudiante que inspire y prepare a todos los alumnos en un entorno seguro".

Al acercarnos al nuevo año escolar, es natural que todos, adultos y niños, experimentemos diversas emociones al pasar de las vacaciones de verano a la rutina escolar. Para ayudar a su hijo a prepararse para un regreso sin contratiempos, le recomendamos restablecer gradualmente una rutina regular para acostarse y por la mañana durante los próximos días. Hablar sobre su entusiasmo por el nuevo año y una mentalidad positiva por parte de nosotros como adultos puede ayudar significativamente a moldear la perspectiva y el entusiasmo de su hijo para el año que comienza.

En nombre de todo el equipo de la Escuela Primaria Dorothea Lange, les expresamos nuestra más sincera gratitud por confiarnos la educación de su hijo/a. Juntos, hagamos de este un año lleno de emocionantes descubrimientos, logros académicos y recuerdos inolvidables.
